Overview
N.V. G.E.B.E. responsible for the production and distribution of electricity and the management of water operations in St. Maarten has a vacancy for a:
SHIFT OPERATOR B WATER PLANT
Purpose:
To carry out operational and control work in the drinking water production plant in accordance with the operational plan and operational standards, procedures, and instructions.
Key responsibilities:
- Carries out operational and control work in the field in accordance with standard procedures and instructions and guided by own findings or by specific indications/instructions receive from Head Operations or the panel operator.
- Prepares and takes care of the dosing of chemicals on the basis of own analyses and analyses results and instructions from the Water Quality and Control department for the correction of quality deviations.
- Inspects the functioning of the equipment, services machines and carries out cleaning, minor maintenance and small repairs of plant installations and equipment.
- Takes care during the shift of continuous evaluation of the general plant situation and reports irregularities to Head Operations and/or the panel operator.
- Prepares the release of installations and equipment for maintenance and repair work and provides support for an efficient execution of the work.
Specific knowledge/skills:
- 1 year experience in RO desalination operations
- Knowledge of operations principles and practices associated with the RO desalination and treatment process
- Quality requirements for drinking water
- Chemical processes used in RO water filtration and treatment
- Hazards associated with the use of chemicals
- Communication and reporting
- Oral and written command of English
- Relevant computer skills
Training:
- MTS degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Supplementary training: RO desalination process, quality requirements drinking water, water treatment, preparation and handling of chemicals, minor maintenance and repairs.
