What does the position entail?

The Supervisory Board of Saba Cares functions as a discussion platform and confidant of the Board of Directors and is responsible for supervising and advising the Board of Directors where appropriate.

The new member of the Supervisory Board has experience in one of these fields: Administrative Affairs, Financial/Legal Affairs, or Human Resource Management.

Additional beneficial qualities would include management experience and insight into the risks associated with a complex professional organization Knowledge of the cultural and political context of Saba and the Caribbean Netherlands would also be valuable.

Your profile

The personality and background of the new member will add to the opinion and decision-making capabilities of the Supervisory Board and as such the new member may:

  • be academically educated or display an academic level of thinking and working.
  • be able to quickly gain strategic overviews and insight from the provided information.
  • take responsibility for their decisions.
  • display critical thinking and proactive actions.
  • possess integrity and respect the confidential nature of the information.
  • be independent and uninhibited.
  • be available for the monthly meetings of the Supervisory Board.
  • While the official language of Saba is English, proficiency in Dutch is beneficial.

What we offer

The appointment is for 4 years, after which reappointment for a second term is possible. A monthly stipend is awarded for the position.

About us

The medical care on Saba is supplied by the Saba Cares Foundation in The Bottom

We offer 24/7 emergency service with our ER and ambulances. Our Clinic has a team of Island Physicians, Physician Assistants and Nurses to tend to our patients.

Next to our Island Physicians, visiting specialists and paramedics have monthly or bimonthly clinics at our medical center.

The Home Health team delivers nursing care to our community in their own homes.

Our admission ward allows us to admit patients who need hospitalized care and our facility is fitted with radiology and ultrasound,

We have our own laboratory where seventy percent of tests are completed on island, the others are sent out and completed off island at St. Maarten Laboratory Services.

The Home, is a care institution for elderly, disabled or otherwise challenged people on the island of Saba.

Saba LIFE Center, a center dedicated to increasing quality of life and independence for seniors & disabled residents through recreation, education and socialization
